About Kathryn Shenton

I have over 10 years experience of client work, having gained a diploma in psycho dynamic counselling with Westminster Pastoral Foundation in 2000.

Since then I have gained in-house training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Short Term Solution Focused Work.

I have over six years full time experience working in a Kent based drug and alcohol service as a counsellor and deputy manager.

I currently work for a charitable agency in Faversham and see clients referred by their GP or self referred clients - this work is both short and long term.

I consider myself to be a warm and empathic counsellor and work with a number of approaches depending on the individual client. e.g. some people are helped through their issues by a short term cognitive way of working. Others may benefit from a longer term psycho dynamic approach where links are made between past and present in order to gain greater understanding of behaviour and relationships.

I am experienced in dealing with the following problems:

  • Bereavement
  • Depression
  • Crisis
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Addictions
  • Phobias
  • Eating Disorders
  • Abuse
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Post Traumatic Stress
  • Obsessive Disorders
  • Panic Attacks
  • Sexuality Issues
  • Sexual Difficulties
  • Criminal Justice Issues

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abide by the Code Of Ethics.

I have regular supervision which is a professional requirement and supports me in my work.
